Wind bells have a deep history in Japan, dating back to the Muromachi period more than 500 years ago, and their light chimes are meant to evoke a feeling of coolness during the heat of summer.
Chushin Kobo is a design studio founded in 1997 by Hisanori Masuda. Based in Yamagata, he seeks to recreate objects retaining the beauty of traditional Japanese cast iron but stylishly adapted to fit contemporary lifestyle.
